KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court set May 5 to hold the substantive hearing on Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin's suit challenging the legitimacy of Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir's appointment as Perak mentri besar.
Meanwhile the Attorney-General will be applying to intervene in the judicial review by Nizar Jamaluddin to challenge the legitimacy Zambry’s appointment as Perak mentri besar.
Justice Abdul Aziz Abd Rahim fixed April 23 to hear Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail’s application to intervene at the Appellate and Special Powers Division of the High Court here on Wednesday.
He allowed the applicant and respondent to reply each other’s affidavits on April 13 and 20 prior to the hearing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Kamaludin Mohd Said said the intervention would be made on the grounds of public interest as the matter involved constitutional interpretations.
The court also set May 5 to hold the substantive hearing of the judicial review questioning the legality of Dr Zambry’s appointment as the current Perak mentri besar.
It was also decided that the hearing will continue on May 6 if necessary.
Nizar, who filed for the judicial review on Feb 13, is seeking a declaration that he is the rightful mentri besar and an injunction to bar Dr Zambry from discharging his duties as the mentri besar.
