IPOH: Sept 11, 2008
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin will assume the post of president of the cash-strapped Perak FA next month.
In making the announcement yesterday, Nizar said that he would begin his duties as president after the association’s annual general meeting in mid-October.
He said at a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday that the FA would also undergo a major restructuring process, including the hiring of new players and trainers.
Nizar added that the state government approved a total of RM300,000 last month to the FA to help them ease their financial burden.
“We are looking into approving a similar amount soon for the same purpose. We are aware of the financial problems faced by the FA and will try to settle them in stages,” he said.
The FA have debts, including defaulted payments on EPF, income taxes and some RM500,000 to the Ipoh City Council for rental of the Perak Stadium.
