The Perak MCA is questioning whether permanent land titles can be issued to all kampung tersusun (planned villages) and new villages in the state.
Urging the state government to reconsider the decision, Perak MCA organising secretary Dr Mah Hang Soon said the move might backfire, causing the state to suffer instead.
Citing a recent statement of Selangor Investment, Industry and Commerce Committee chairman Teresa Kok that the move might jeopardise the development of certain areas, Dr Mah said if what Kok said was true, the development of Perak might suffer too.
“The state must study the matter closely before making such announcements,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Mentri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin had announced that permanent land titles would be issued to those villages in Perak.
Dr Mah said the state should inform the people when the move could be implemented.
“While the state government had said to give it 100 days to come out with procedures on the matter, its progress thus far has been unclear,” said Dr Mah, who is also the Chenderiang assemblyman.
