The Home Ministry should have issued a show-cause letter to the editor-in-chief of Makkal Osai before the newspaper was ordered to cease publication, said DAP central executive committee member A. Sivanesan.
Sivanesan, who is Perak Health, Environment and Human Resources Committee chairman said a show cause letter should have been issued instead of just stating that the newspaper had breached publication guidelines.
“Home Minister (Datuk Seri) Syed Hamid Albar should have stated what are the guidelines which had been breached,” he said.
“In this case, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief should be held responsible and not its 102 workers,” he told reporters after meeting representatives of Kamunting Textile Industries.
Sivanesan said he had written to Human Resoruces Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam on Friday to find an amicable solution to the matter.
