The mainstream media should change its way of reporting or risk being left out in the future, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
"The reports carried by the media must have elements of justice instead of being monotonous or merely one-sided reporting.
"They (editors) must move away from the current practice of subtracting and adding (unsubstantiated) material to the articles or analysis," he said.
He pointed out that failure to address this issue would cause the people at large to resort to seeking the "truth" from alternative media.
"The people must not be denied of their rights of access to accurate information. They are well aware of what is happening around them and will not hesitate to look for an alternative source of information," Nizar said at a gathering for the media held at his official residence recently.
