PARENTS are worried over the safety of their schoolchildren who have been seen playing at a construction area outside the gates of SK Sultan Yussuf, Batu Gajah.
The construction, involving the rebuilding of a bridge, is apparently part of an ongoing project by the state Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID).
Parent Mazlina Said questioned who should be responsible for the safety of the pupils –the school, the Parent-Teacher Association, DID or the contractor.
“I’ve seen children playing at the project area while waiting for their transport outside the school,” said the 30-year-old mother of three.
Mazlina said the department should get the contractor to put up proper enclosures to prevent anything untoward from happening to the schoolchildren.
Year Six pupil Mohd Zikri Saiful said school authorities had already told them not to play near the site.
