SOME 1,000 Perak Water Board (LAP) em-ployees will be getting one and a half months’ bonus.
LAP general manager Datuk Mohd Yusof Mohd Isa said the payout, to be made by end of the month, would cost the board some RM2.6mil.
“The board has been declaring bonuses for staff since 1999 as a means to spur them to work harder,” he said, adding that each employee would be getting a minimum of RM600.
Speaking to reporters after the board meeting in Ipoh yesterday, which was chaired by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Mohd Yusof said the board made a pre-tax profit of RM74mil last year.
On another matter, Mohd Yusof said the four vacancies in the board would be filled soon.
Board members Datuk Ho Cheng Wang, Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib and Liew Mun Hon resigned following the March 8 general election while Treasury Department represen-tative S. Thilaganaban retired.
